Social
At Alpha Phi, we are constantly finding ways to have a good time. Although we have challenging course loads, a healthy balance of fun and work is what we love. We have mixers at least twice a month with at least one of the 20 fraternities at Syracuse University. There are date events like, "Screw Your Sister," or "Crush Parties," where we either get a date set up for us or invite our crushes! For these events we love to mingle downtown at hot spots like Dolce & Ambrosia. Formal is twice a year and dressing to impress is what we do best. For more information on our social events please contact our Social Chair.
Our Historic House
Alpha Chapter means that we were the first Alpha Phi to be created, which means our house was the first chapter house created for our sorority. The house is as gorgeous as the girls that live inside of it. The current Alpha Phi house was built in 1899 and was the former residence of an alpha phi. We moved into it in 1910. Although we have relocated, we have brought many precious collectibles with us. The house still has the original stained glass windows, as well as many artifacts from our original founders. The entryway leads to the lobby, parlor, chapter room and dining room, as well as the main grand staircase. The top two floors are compiled of sisters’ bedrooms.
Recruitment
Alpha Phi is a diverse group of girls, ranging in age from 18 to 22. We hail from all different locations and backgrounds, public and private schools, and a wide range of sports teams, activities, and interests. There is no Alpha Phi "type;" rather, we’ve found that it is impossible to characterize us simply and with only one or two words.
Academics
Despite being formed to provide an environment outside of schoolwork, academics are important to Alpha Phi. A walk through the house on any weekday night proves this – sisters can be found studying in their rooms or with groups in the dining room or study. Still others are relaxing in the TV room, playing the piano, or just having a chat.
